Chapter One: Arrival in Moonlight Falls

Here we go with another legacy.  Only this time we're going to publish it! Mind you, we played for the entire first generation before deciding this, but we were taking pictures the entire time, so you won't miss anything.  We also have no idea why we're talking, not only in third person, but as if there were more than one of us.  We promise this doesn't normally happen, but is apparently a side effect of astronomy homework.  Without any more blabbering, I'd like to introduce our founder for this random legacy, Alan Bateman.
Alan Bateman was randomized, even his name, in character creation.  Only his hair and clothing was changed.  I know-oh hey, look a few sentences ago the plural third person disappeared.  Bit jarring.  Oh well.  Anyways, I know I didn't have to randomize him, but I felt like it was in the spirit of things.  Also, I nearly always randomize my sims, because I'm lazy.
Alan is a neurotic social butterfly, who, though he is a great kisser, is the epitome of unflirty.  He's also a virtuoso, which is the reason he aspires to be a rock star.

Alan Bateman had come to Moonlight Falls for no particular reason.  It seemed as good as any to make a start of becoming a famous rock star.  He had no plans to stay in the town for very long, as it didn't seem to be a very good place to be famous, but it seemed good enough to make his start.  That and it was cheaper than Bridgeport, where he had originally thought about moving to, after leaving his family home in Sunset Valley.
He'd managed to purchase a small home that had everything a sim needed to live.  Which was really all he had looked for, because he didn't plan on being home all that often, especially since he lived by himself.  Alan had met loner sims before and he just didn't get them.  He wanted to be surrounded by others all of the time, and the idea of staying by himself in his bedroom all day horrified him.
So it really wasn't a surprise when he only bothered to do a cursory check to make sure nothing was about to destroy his new home before hopping on his bike (a gift from the real estate agent!) and heading to the park.  He'd heard strange tales of Moonlight Falls, things like werewolves and faeries, but he wasn't too worried.  Even Sunset Valley had seen a growth in vampire population, so he supposed it wasn't too hard to believe that other supernatural races were making themselves known, after the success the vampires had had.
He'd only brought one item with him on his move, relying on the ability to purchase a furnished home to get him anything else he needed.  His guitar, which would hopefully land him a job as a musician in the theater.  For now he used it to simply attract some attention.  For all the talk, everybody at the park looked to be perfectly ordinary.
There were the familiar scenes of parents berating their children (although he was later to learn that the little boy was not Annie Nix's child, and that Annie was, in fact, a rather mean-spirited sim).  Pic-nics, despite the late hour were also bountiful, and Alan managed to get himself invited to share in a meal at one.
The Wolff family had a complex geaneology and he had no idea if this young woman who continually tried to talk to him was the wife of Pappy Wolff (and honestly, why would anyone take such a strange name?  Pappy, honestly?) or his daughter.  One way or the other, she was carrying another Wolff child.  Unless she wasn't a Wolff at all, but he was reasonably certain he was remembering that right.
Annie Nix, that was a name he wouldn't forget.  One moment she was sweet and kind, friendly as could be.  The next minute she was creeping up behind him and screaming, making him jump out of his skin.  Despite that he found that she was entertaining and made a friend of her before heading back to his empty home, with promises to hang out again.
A stereo was all that kept him company, but at least his enjoyment of music meant that it wasn't a horrible evening alone.  It could have been made better with one of his mother's dinners, but that was impossible.  Alan had never learned to cook and he didn't really plan on learning to do so any time soon.  Eventually he could just go out to eat...for now he would settle for soup and cereal.
The house was eerily quiet when he woke up, setting him on edge as he went about his morning routine.  Deciding he needed to get out he decided to head down to the theater to see if they had an opening for some sort of position in some sort of music industry.  Anything would do really.
Apparently they were horribly short of fans, which didn't bode well for his future in Moonlight Falls, and hired him on the spot, promising to give him a chance to move up to actual music.  Before long he was hanging out with others-including the no longer pregnant Maybe-Wolff woman, who seemed to be stalking him.
When he did find himself at his home he was often on the phone, pushing back the stillness that even his stereo couldn't keep at bay completely.  He began to wonder if it might not have been better to go straight to Bridgeport, even if he'd had to get a roommate that might have turned out to be a murderer.
When such thoughts began to creep up on him, Alan would leave the house and go visit somebody-anybody really.  He became known as the guy who visited whoever seemed to be home at random times of the day and week.  After a little while it was gently suggested that he instead visit some public lots, instead of seemingly stalking people as they came and went from their homes.
A laundry mat directly across from his house seemed like a good place to visit, and as he still lacked a washer and dryer, it turned out to be useful trips as well.  The rest of the town sighed in relief as his stalking habits decreased and Alan even found himself beginning to be invited to parties.
It occured to him during one of the trips that maybe the Maybe-Wolff lady was actually one the Crumplebottom sisters.  Bianca Crumplebottom was one of his coworkers, and he thought that Maybe-Wolff might actually be her sister Belinda, though married to someone named Skipper.
Bianca was a tough case to handle.  Most of the time she was a joy to hang out with, but sometimes she went into territory he was simply uncomfortable with.  Bianca liked to flirt, and she seemed to have set her eyes on him.  He was also pretty sure that her clothing at that one party was not swimwear, whatever she said.
On occasion, as he crawled into bed, he wondered if maybe he ought to try and flirt back with a few of the ladies that had flirted with him.  In the end though, he was also satisfied enough with simply being friend.  A new phone that he placed on his bedside table also meant that, even if his cell was dead, he wasn't cut off from social interaction.  The idea of flirting was only a fleeting moment.
Annie Nix was married to Mike Nix, who Alan got along with very well.  The couple were his best friend and he often went over to visit, or invited them over to liven up his own home.
Annie, expecting their second child, preferred to remain at home and so he spent most of his time watching television over at their rather brightly colored home.  He was careful not to mention what he thought of their decor.
They had a little girl who Alan affectionately called Mini-Annie.  Her name was actually Mara, which he insisted was just a contraction of Mini-Annie.  On occasion he babysat Mara, playing games and watching television.
His trips to the park didn't stop, although now that he had more friends to visit they weren't as common.  On one trip he met Nichole Shackleford, a young mother who had just moved in near the Nix family.  She was rather stand-offish, but that might just have been her nervousness at moving to a new place with a young daughter.
Moving up in his career, it wasn't long before Alan was acting as a talent scout.  With the new influx of money he was able to decorate his home a bit, giving it touches of his own.  This was mostly posters and decor of anything to do with music.  Even boybands.
It also involved a much larger stereo, the smaller one replaced with a microwave that expanded his dietary range by whatever the microwave meal section at the store had.  More importantly, his new stereo was bigger.  And bigger is always better.
Only one room in his house remained basically untouched.  Occasionally he practiced guitar in there, but he didn't really know what to do with it.  It's biggest function was as a clear path to the toilet, instead of circumnavigating his bed.
On a dare from a coworker, Alan headed to the bookstore to purchase some new compositions, to prove that he could learn new music and his repertoire wasn't confined to the few pieces he currently knew.  Also, he hoped that maybe he could catch the eye of a band lacking a guitarist if he expanded his knowledge.
It turned out to be far more fun than he expected, and he did indeed catch the eye of a band.  Not for his guitar playing, but because they were desperate for someone to write some lyrics and figured he could help out.  Why they thought that he had no idea, but whatever he provided for them seemed to be good enough.
Bianca stopped by one day after her shift as a roadie ended, appearing nervous.  "Thanks for letting me in."
"No problem, I always enjoy visiting with a friend."  Alan wasn't sure he wanted to pry.  Anytime he asked her about feelings she tried to flirt with him.

Bianca didn't seemed to be aiming at any sort of flirting though.  "Look, I'm actually hear to ask a huge favor.  I know you've heard I've been seeing Pappy Wolff, right?"  Alan nodded, though he didn't see why she was seeing the old man, "Well, he broke it off with me.  Really that isn't a problem, but well...I'm pregnant with his kid and he wants nothing to do with it.  I'll have to quit work soon too, I can't keep working while pregnant and I don't have anybody to look after the kid once I have it...I was hoping you could let me crash here, just until I get another job after the kid is born."  Taking a deep breath, Bianca looked straight ahead, avoiding Alan's surprised face.
Alan sat silently for a moment in shock.  "...Of course you can stay.  I have a room I'm not using anyways."  Bianca-a mother?  Somehow Alan couldn't imagine the woman cooing over a newborn child, or taking a little kid to the park.

Bianca  looked about ready to break down, which worried Alan greatly.  He wasn't good with crying women-with crying people in general.  She managed to keep it together, instead just giving him a large hug, "Oh, thank you Alan!  I didn't know what I would do if you had said no...Oh, I promise not to be a bother, really.  Thank you!"

---

And boom, chapter one is complete!  Hah, so by this time...Alan was nearly a mature adult.  I didn't take many pictures at all up until this point because nothing  was happening.  I had made Nichole Shackelford and her daughter because I was having a heck of a time finding anyone besides Annie Nix to become Alan's spouse according to his roll, and I didn't want to break up Annie and Mike!  They're one of the few happy couples in my town-everyone else (Besides Belinda and Someguy Skipper) are always getting into fights and ending it.

Ah, and the roll for Generation One is:
Step-Children
Two Children
Primary: Music Rockstar
Secondary: Mixology
Expansionist
It's So YOU

I've been decorating the house with musicy stuff for the It's So YOU roll.  Alan's favorite color is sea foam, or something like that, which I also tried to incorporate, but it kept turning out to be far more blue.  Oh well, I'm still counting that as being achieved.  He even got a phone for his social butterfly outlook!
